New Besties Challenge - For Mum

Good morning can you believe its nearly the end of March ... the year is flying by again at faster than the speed of light struggling to keep up .......

Today at the Besties UK blog we are having a new challenge .  The theme for this is ...... 'FOR MUM' …..   - your entry to the challenge must contain a Bestie Image

My project for this theme is a door hanger to showcase the beautiful bestie (IMG156).  Always looking for something new to do in class to keep the ladies interested and busy I came up with this lovely door hanger for them to make... this one I shall give to my Mum to hang on her Art room door whilst she is in there painting. I like to give her my hand made projects she loves to have them in her home to remind her of me ....

Recipe:-

Paper - Heartfelt Creations - Delicate Asters Collection
Card - Bazzil Basics - Purple Pizzazz
Vintage Ribbon - Creative Expressions
Buttons
Jute - Creative Expressions
Gilding Wax - Vintage Plum - Creative Expressions
Honey Blossom sprig - Memory Box
Dahlia - Susans Garden - Sizix
Enchanted labels 28 - Spellbinders
Petite Oval - Spellbinders
Circles - Spellbinders
Scalloped circles - spellbinders

Distress Inks - Seedless preserves, Shaded Lilac

To make this project I covered both sides of the door hanger with paper, I edged all the hanger with seedless preserves, then added gilding wax around the edges of the paper.

I cut the purple card 8cm x 13.5cm rounded the corners with a punch and affixed it to the hanger with glue gel.  From the paper I cut enchanted labels 28 using the reverse side of the paper I glued this to the purple card.

Next I cut the flower dies, for the honey blossom sprig I used white card and coloured it with copics to match the paper, I sprayed with with spray and shine to make it glossy and a bit more robust.  I cut the Dahlia die from pearlised paper and coloured it with distress inks, assembled it and sprayed it with spray and shine.

I then affixed the flowers to the door hanger with glue gel and left them to dry. I tied jute through the button and added to the bottom corner, the bow is a triple bow tied on the bow maker then a flower button was tied over the top. I affixed it to the door hanger with glue gel and put the scalloped circle beneath it, I added the message on the scalloped circle to finish.

The image is cut outside the oval another of my favourite techniques, I coloured it with copics and affixed to the project with glue gel.

I used the following colours:-

Skin tones - e000, e00, e11, e04, e93, e95
Eyes - fv2, v17
Hair - e15, e17, e18
Clothing - v0000, v000, v01, v12, v15, v17

I hope you like my project and it has given you some inspiration to take part in our new challenge .

Thanks for stopping by today.
