January Challenge- its all about the Hair

Good morning can you believe its nearly the end of January ... wherever did those days fly off too?

Today at the Besties UK blog we are having a new challenge in conjunction with a blog hop.  The theme for this is ALL ABOUT THE HAIR…   - your entry to the challenge must contain a Bestie Image

My project for this theme is a simple card to showcase the beautiful bestie (IMG799). I chose this image because of her Rapunzel hairstyle reminded me of the fairy story I used to read to my daughter .

I chose prismacolor pencils to colour the image makes a nice change from Copics although I do like to mix the medias sometimes for a different effect.

Prismacolor pencils have lovely smooth soft leads which blend seamlessly on their own or with solvents, I chose not to use any solvents on this project

Card 5 x7 using Centura pearl
Purple - Coredinations
Embossed Layer - Centura Pearl
Grand decorated ovals - Spellbinders
Corner Punch
Graduated pearls - kaiser craft

I folded and cut a piece of centura pearl card to make a base card 7 x 5 inches (17.8 x 12.7cm), then I cut a piece of purple card 17 x 12cm and used the corner punch to round the corners.

I then cut a piece of Centura pearl 16.5 x 11.5cm and embossed using the Teresa Collins Embossing folder Regency and rounded the corners with the punch. This was then layered onto the card.

I applied 5 graduated pearls to the top right and bottom left corners of the card and one large pearl on the other corners to balance the card.  I used the grand decorated ovals to cut the purple oval and then embossed the die too for more dimension.

I used grand ovals from spellbinders to cut out my printed image prior to colouring.

The colours I used were:-

Hair -
Tuscan red - pc937
Mahogany red - pc1029
Chestnut - pc1081
Dark purple - pc931

Skin -
Sienna beige - pc1080
Light peach - pc927
Peach - pc939
Dark Purple - pc931 - lips
