Purple Hair- something new

Well here we are again with the beautiful Besties images love this one called Gill .... must remind me of someone... but they normally have pink hair ... I decided to do some colouring with pencils another of my favourite mediums... I have a whole 150 colour range of prismacolor pencils to choose from so looked for some opposites and finished up with green and purple two colours which compliment each other brilliantly.... something new for me to colour long hair with pencils and to use a colour different from the usual brunettes and blonds...

This photo is the coloured image before I decided what colours to use for the background....

Basic linen card 7 x5 from Papermill direct
Dahlia - coredinations
Willow - Adirondack coredinations
Spotted paper - creative imaginations
Flowered paper - heartfelt creations

Spellbinders - Grand Labels four
Spellbinders - elegant labels four

I used the dahlia coredinations as a base and layered the patterns paper in tow halves over the top, fastened a ribbon across the join,  Cut out a grand label four in dahlia and and elegant label in willow, then used the grand label four to cut out the image which I had coloured with Prismacolor pencils.  I layers the image to the willow card with double sided tape and then to the dahlia label with glue gel, then onto the base card with glue gel. I added a double bow using both colours with glue gel.

The prismacolor pencil have lovely smooth soft leads which allow blending with to without solvents, I have used a little sansodor in place to blend the colours out.

The colours I used were as follows:-
Skin - Light peach, peach, seashell pink, beige sienna, pink,
Eyes - Lime peel, chartreuse
Hair - French grey 30%, parma violet, lilac, violet, black
Dress - Lime peel, moss green, chartreuse

I will be entering this project into the Besties Uk challenge 'Try Something New'

December Challenge and Blog Hop

Good morning can you believe its nearly Christmas? only a few days left now to get your goodies in for the festive season.

Today at the Besties UK blog we are having a new challenge in conjunction with a blog hop.  The theme for this is JINGLE BELLS…   - your entry to the challenge must have a Bestie Image and some Jingle bells in some form.

My project for this theme is a lovely warm cup of Hot Chocolate with a Besties Stirrer … such a cute image (IMG042).

The cup is filled with peppermint candy canes, hot chocolate and marshmallows to top off the chocolate, I will be wrapping it in cellophane before giving it away.

Take a piece of white card, 22.5cm x 12cm score at 2.5cm to create 9 panels and at 4cm from bottom, crease folds, cut folds unto 4cm line. This will form your cup.

The handle is made from Spellbinders Octagons and the same card.

I created a stirrer by using a wooden stirrer and two ovals in blue paper, then added an oval in centura pearl to the front, I printed out the bestie and cut her out, coloured her with copics and affixed to stirrer with glue gel.

I affixed a bow at the base of the oval to finish it off.

For the handle I cut out the shape with two octagons creating a frame which was then folded in half and glued to the cup.

I then added a bow with two types of ribbon a snowflake, a button and then the Jingle Bell to complete, this was tied to the handle with jute.

Materials and tools:-

Centura Pearl card
12 x 12 Magnolia Starry Night paper
Wooden Stirrer

Bestie in Blue

Good Morning

Its the beginning of a new week and we have a brand new challenge at Besties UK, this can be found over at 'My Besties UK Challenge Blog' - this is a brand new challenge for this week.

'Theme - Blue White and Silver'

You can enter this challenge and win some of Sherri's 'My Besties' digi images.  Here is what I created for my DT inspiration using IMG030 which you can buy in Sherri's Etsy store  HERE

The inspiration for this card came from a little girl named Grace who will be 2 very soon, the image so reminded me of her .

The materials and tools used for this card can be found in my Recipe….

Base Card 5 x 7 inches (17.8 x 12.7 cm)
Blue card - Bazzil basics
Blue and white spotted paper - out of my scrap box
Loopy Oval - pearlised white paper ( given by a friend)
Silver Mirror card - Ideal Paper and Card
White card for Image - Paper Mill Direct
White card for flowers and lace - Staples 120gsm

Dies -
Spellbinders - Grand scalloped Ovals
Spellbinders - Plain Ovals
Sizzix - Tattered florals - Tim Holtz
Magnolia - Xmas Tags
Magnolia - Vintage Box Lace

Punch -
Woodware - Lilac

Miscellaneous trimmings , ribbons, card candi & pearls

I layered the blue card, silver card and blue spotted paper with a.5cm difference in each size, then cut the oval around the bestie image, I found the loopy oval in my scrap box, a friend had given me some of these in white pearlised paper just fitted in nicely with the theme.

With the vintage box die I created some bunting at the top of the card adding some ribbon and flowers using the lilac punch, each one with a pearl in the centre.  I also added a strip of bunting near the bottom of the card again with the ribbon added.

I then used the scalloped oval in blue,  I coloured my image with Copics which are listed at the bottom of this post.

I added some faux stitching around the edge with the tumbled glass distress marker, I like these markers for this as they have a fine tip.
I layered the ovals and attached them to the card.

I typed out the '2 today' on my computer and placed the tag die over the top to cut it out, I then tucked this under the edge of the oval.

Using some more of the lilac flowers with pearls to add some white flowers near the tag and at the bottom of the oval, this completed  the smaller attributes of the design.

The flower and leaves came from the tattered floral dies, I cut some from each type of card or paper used, added some shaping using my 'Susan's Flower Garden Tool Kit' a very useful addition to my craft box, a card candi button to create the centre and attached to the card with glue gel.  A small bow with a pearl completed the card.
